Entertainment

Ventura has plenty to keep you entertained day and night, but ultimately you can choose to do as little or as much as you like. There is ample space around the four swimming pools for sun-worshippers to relax, and the sports courts are great for those who like to stay a little more active, with basketball, tennis and football on offer. Many of the bars and lounges will host quizzes or talks during the day and there are often a range of classic and modern movies showing in the Tamarind Club. In the evening, the entertainment changes, with music, dancing and shows available across the ship. Head up to the Metropolis Bar to admire the changing city skyline on the 20m plasma screen as you listen to live music, dance the night away in the Havana nightclub, or join in with pub quizzes and karaoke competitions in The Exchange Pub. If you like a good show then a visit to the Arena Theatre is a must as you can watch West-End style productions, musicals and cabaret acts.

Health and Fitness

The Oasis Spa on board Ventura has an extensive range of facilities and treatments so you are bound to leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. There are large treatment rooms all with ocean views where you can enjoy a variety of traditional and modern treatments, including massages, acupuncture and facials. In the thermal suite you'll find steam rooms and saunas, plus whirlpools and an endless pool outside. A new addition to The Oasis Spa coming in Spring 2013 will be The Retreat; an outdoor terrace that will be exclusively just for adults, providing a tranquil space to relax in the sun or enjoy a spa treatment in one of the private cabanas. Adjacent to the spa is the gym, which has all the latest fitness equipment including spinning bikes, cross-trainers and treadmills, as well as weights machines and a free weights area. The gym also has a separate exercise area for fitness classes such as yoga, pilates and aerobics. Click here to see a selection of available beauty treatments.

Trivia

Did you know that Ventura is the sister ship to Azura and is 1.4m longer, but hold 22 fewer guests. Ventura's length is the same as 3 football pitches or the height of the Eiffel Tower.

Children's Facilities

Kids of all ages will be in their element on board Ventura, and probably won't want to ever leave! The Reef is the dedicated children's area which is split in to various age groups aged 2 to 17, and each offer a wide variety of activities and facilities suited to that age group. Younger children can enjoy playing in the ball pool and on the indoor climbing frame, as well as fun games, arts and crafts, competitions and sports games. Directly outside the main club there is also an outdoor play area and a children's splash pool. Older children and teens have their own separate areas where they can watch the latest movies, play the latest games consoles and play sports, and in the evening they can enjoy karaoke contests and parties. The clubs are usually open from 9am until 10.30pm, with some extending until 2am for older children and teens during the school holidays. Ventura was the first ship in the fleet to introduce the Night Nursery for under 5's, and Slumber Time for 5-8 year olds is available during peak times.

The menu has a wide choice of delicious food on offer, including Tandoori Chicken, Red Snapper, Loin of Lamb and Thai Spiced Chicken. The restaurant is open for dinner between 6.30pm and 9.30pm. The cover charge varies depending on the duration of your cruise; cruise length 8 days £15 per person, 3-7 days £20 per person and 1-2 days cruises £25 per person. Cabin Rating : 4
The cabin was tired in need of a refit : spending 2 weeks in this small cabin would be an effort : the balcony just enough room for small table and chairs : nice bed slept well : TV very old : mini bar fridge did not chill enough : drinks were limited to gin and beer

Dining Rating : 4
Based on previous cruises some staff seemed worn and tired : my meal was sent back because of wrong information to the galley ( I asked for blue steak and got a very well done steak )! This was isolated and in general the service and food was good

Entertainment Rating : 3
Not great veriaty and average performers : but suited a 2 day cruise

Cabin Rating : 5
I was everything we had hoped for, champagne and chocolates awaited us on arrival, the cabin was really spacious and well laid out, it even had a near full size bath, I am 6' 4" tall and I managed to fit in it OK, the bed was really comfortable. The balcony was overlooked by the upper decks, but this was not a problem at all. Would not hesitate to book this cabin again.

Dining Rating : 4
We only used the Waterside buffet, this served a good selection of food, with regional dishes on the menu as well as traditional English dishes. The only criticism we had with the buffet was that it was very small and did get a bit crowed and cramped at times.

Entertainment Rating : 5
This was the best cruises (our 7th) we have been on for entertainment, the Headliner theater company were brilliant, they performed every second night, with every show completely different, there song and dance routines were excellent. The other acts between their shows were also very good.

Ship Rating : 5
Ventura is a very nice ship, it is well laid out with everything you need, there is plenty of deck space, to soak up the sun, three decent size pools, one adults only, several hot tubs, a large and comfortable theater. the ship is looking a bit tired in places, but having said that she is ten years old next year, and is going in for a major refit next April. Would sail on her again.

Cabin Rating : 4
Only two night stay..been on Ventura a few times...In good order, view from picture window good, cleanliness good, plenty of hanging space, small but adequate bathroom.

Dining Rating : 4
Had freedom dining, ate in Saffron restaurant, staff at table 25 (both nights) very good, food selection good and plenty of it. Trick to get to restaurant as it opens (1830 hrs) for table selection as it is busy from 1930 hrs onwards...

Entertainment Rating : 3
Put ok did not stay long in bar for the singer was toooo loud!!!

Ship Rating : 4
P&O seem to have upped their game in restaurant, staff more friendly, other staff good, reception very busy so not many smiles...room service spot on.....ship in good order inside public area's very nice decor and cleanliness....waterside buffet area ok usual busy area food choice good. As it was two nights and with excursion taken to Bruge did not spend a lot of time on outside decks....recommend this ship................excursions expensive but known by regular cruises!!!

Cabin Rating : 4
Well equipped (love the tea & coffee making facility), fairly decent size but bathroom quite small. Always kept in pristine condition by our cabin steward. Beds were comfortable but bedding a little tired - not dirty however.

Dining Rating : 4
Food in all the restaurants was great but let down by the desserts, bland and not always as described, good selection of cheeses though. There were one or two exceptions, notably the scones in the afternoon tea in Cinnamon and the chocolate & chilli tart in Sindhu. Service was, as always, good - not rushed. Friendly atmosphere.

Entertainment Rating : 5
The Jack Pack were fantastic, brilliant singers and they created a really good atmosphere. The ship's theatre crew were also excellent. There were one or two tribute acts on board who produced really good shows.

Ship Rating : 5
Lots of places to eat and drink, good entertain in a variety of places - ie the theatre and a number of clubs & of course the pub! Drinks not too pricey. Pools were good and everywhere was clean and tidy. Crew always friendly including the officers, great atmosphere.

The Headliners theatre shows are excellent and so professional

Ship Rating : 5
The adults only Oasis pool and spa area is good. Most areas are great and it would be hard to fault this friendly large ship. It would appeal to a broad range of customers. The food in the formal restaurants is excellent.

Clean and spacious we entertained four people there most days. Cabin person looked after very well with extra glasses and cups. Having the balcony helped us all spot whales and dolphins. Due to my weak back the cabin person supplied a topper which helped a great deal.

Dining Rating : 4
We were on freedom dining with a table of 6 and had the same team each night table 36. Alberto and John looked after us very well my son in law had 2 sweets one evening. Food has improved since our last cruise.

Entertainment Rating : 4
Entertainment was mixed. Headliners were very good but there wasn't enough variation in the other acts.
