Entertainment

Ventura has plenty to keep you entertained day and night, but ultimately you can choose to do as little or as much as you like. There is ample space around the four swimming pools for sun-worshippers to relax, and the sports courts are great for those who like to stay a little more active, with basketball, tennis and football on offer. Many of the bars and lounges will host quizzes or talks during the day and there are often a range of classic and modern movies showing in the Tamarind Club. In the evening, the entertainment changes, with music, dancing and shows available across the ship. Head up to the Metropolis Bar to admire the changing city skyline on the 20m plasma screen as you listen to live music, dance the night away in the Havana nightclub, or join in with pub quizzes and karaoke competitions in The Exchange Pub. If you like a good show then a visit to the Arena Theatre is a must as you can watch West-End style productions, musicals and cabaret acts.

Health and Fitness

The Oasis Spa on board Ventura has an extensive range of facilities and treatments so you are bound to leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. There are large treatment rooms all with ocean views where you can enjoy a variety of traditional and modern treatments, including massages, acupuncture and facials. In the thermal suite you'll find steam rooms and saunas, plus whirlpools and an endless pool outside. A new addition to The Oasis Spa coming in Spring 2013 will be The Retreat; an outdoor terrace that will be exclusively just for adults, providing a tranquil space to relax in the sun or enjoy a spa treatment in one of the private cabanas. Adjacent to the spa is the gym, which has all the latest fitness equipment including spinning bikes, cross-trainers and treadmills, as well as weights machines and a free weights area. The gym also has a separate exercise area for fitness classes such as yoga, pilates and aerobics. Click here to see a selection of available beauty treatments.

Trivia

Did you know that Ventura is the sister ship to Azura and is 1.4m longer, but hold 22 fewer guests. Ventura's length is the same as 3 football pitches or the height of the Eiffel Tower.

Children's Facilities

Kids of all ages will be in their element on board Ventura, and probably won't want to ever leave! The Reef is the dedicated children's area which is split in to various age groups aged 2 to 17, and each offer a wide variety of activities and facilities suited to that age group. Younger children can enjoy playing in the ball pool and on the indoor climbing frame, as well as fun games, arts and crafts, competitions and sports games. Directly outside the main club there is also an outdoor play area and a children's splash pool. Older children and teens have their own separate areas where they can watch the latest movies, play the latest games consoles and play sports, and in the evening they can enjoy karaoke contests and parties. The clubs are usually open from 9am until 10.30pm, with some extending until 2am for older children and teens during the school holidays. Ventura was the first ship in the fleet to introduce the Night Nursery for under 5's, and Slumber Time for 5-8 year olds is available during peak times.

Ventura Reviews

Mr P Squire 17/07/2017

Cabin Rating : 4
The cabin was a decent size, always clean and attended to twice a day by the steward. The bed was comfortable enough. On the downside the interactive TV system is starting to look a bit dated, although there was a messaging system and the opportunity to check your ongoing expenses online. Also I personally don't like being surrounded by wall-to-wall mirrors. I wish they would just stick to a mirror in the bathroom and a single full-length mirror. This seems to be the way it's done on all the P&O ships I've cruised on.

Dining Rating : 4
The food and service in the restaurants are always of a high quality, and the menus are sufficiently varied as not to be repetitive even on a longer cruise.

Entertainment Rating : 3
The Ventura is a family-oriented ship and the entertainment was typically British. Plenty of quizzes, comedian. dance shows and so on, but unfortunately there wasn't that much that appealed to me.

Ship Rating : 5
The Venture is an awesome ship and the operation to support it is mind-blowing. I would thoroughly recommend the behind-the-scenes tour they do on the longer cruises for a full appreciation of what goes on.

good size, balcony a bit small, well cleaned and maintained.

main dinning rooms were busy with queues and slow service, food was good. Premium dinning was excellent at Sindu, Epicurian, and Glass House, but of course you have to pay extra for that.

Entertainment Rating : 3
Mostly "headliner" shows, some good comics, but again very busy and hard to find seats unless you turn up an hour early.

Ship Rating : 4
Very good cruise, staff were good and did all they could to make the events fun.

Mrs M Stares 13/07/2017

Very quite and comfortable. The cabin steward was one of the best we have had on our 50 cruises

Service was not the best and could be improved. The food was mediocre

Perhaps in need of some reburbishment but overall good

A good size especially the wardrobe space. The only drawback was the 2 bunk beds that involved us ducking down to pass. Bed was comfortable. Adequate bathroon

Dining Rating : 2
Very slow service in the dining room but food there was ok. The buffet was a great disappointment poorly organised and food was often barely warm.

Entertainment Rating : 3
Good cast of singers and dancers-full of energy. The other acts were mediocre. The singers seem to shout. Is it to cover up lack of talent?

Ship Rating : 3
We were told once we were on board that one of the stops was cancelled due to the ship being too large for the port. Difficult to believe that they hadn't worked this while organising the cruise. Not very impressed. The ship itself was very nice in places and a bit 'tired' in others

Mr T Kelly 20/06/2017

Cabin Rating : 5
After opting for grade NF cabins under the "Saver" booking scheme for each of the last 2 years - and consistently being allocated a double upgrade to NC in each case (both cabins then proving to have little if any view i.e. totally obstructed), I embarked on this cruise with little if any enthusiasm for cabin position - particularly when no upgrade to NC was indicated (i.e. my allocated cabin on deck 8 was E708 - grade NF as booked). To my amazement, the offered cabin was a spectacular improvement - and also very quiet. Whilst one could readily conclude that computer systems at P & O leave much to be desired, the outcome is reflected in the high marking. Thank you all round.

Dining Rating : 4
Hot food on the buffets was unpredictable in temperature. Food in the Cinammon Restaurant was good as was the service. Freedom dining system was enormously helpful in timing issues - and never rushed

Entertainment Rating : 4
The "in house" entertainment group (The Headliners) were the star performers. Otherwise, use of blasphemous language by a Comedian was too frequent. He may be funny but he needs to moderate his language. Overall - very good

Ship Rating : 4
This my fifth cruise on the ship over a period of 10 years. It scratches me where I itch! The staff on the Customer Service desk were brilliant and we were able to disembark in good time to catch our flight to Manchester. My favourite place on the ship is at the rear (decks 15/16) where the outside bar and seating area overlook one of the swimming pools and look out to sea. It is sheltered and usually sunny.

Good size and we worked out we actually had one of the larger balconies. Beds super comfy and it was kept beautifully clean by the staff.

Dining Rating : 5
Food was amazing with plenty of choice. We had freedom dining so we were able to dine at whichever time suited us. We never had to wait and was also shown to a table pretty much straight away. Service was also very good.

Entertainment Rating : 5
After dinner, there was always something to either watch in both the bars or the theatre.

Ship Rating : 5
The ship is huge so it takes a few days to work it all out but this to me is exciting. I went in the school holidays but without my children so although around the main pool the families flocked, there was plenty of quiet areas and an adult only area where you could retreat to if you wanted too. The ship was immaculate and clean and once inside you would never know you were on a ship as so big. Plenty of spaces to walk around and there was also shops, café, art gallery and a library. I found the food to be brilliant also, there was a choice in everything and you were always able to get something to eat all the time. I can not fault anything, I slept well, ate well and had a really enjoyable mini cruise.

Mr P Matkowski 06/06/2017

Cabin Rating : 4
Spacious, comfortable, excellent balcony. Beds a little on the firm side. Interactive services on the were slow and clunky, definiely need updating / replacing with a more modern system. During docking manoeuvres some of the wall panels resonated *extremely* loudly, resulting in waking us up very early on two mornings. Despite these gripes it was generally a good experience.

Dining Rating : 4
Sindhu restaurant was utterly superb. Beach House was also very good. Cinnamon had good ambience, but portion sizes were very small and our waiter seemed rather annoyed all evening for no obvious reason. The Waterside buffet was not good at all - often chaotic, running out of food and most of the staff seemed quite stressed and/or grumpy - not a pleasant experience for several of the times we visited. Room service was

Entertainment Rating : 4
The 'Hot Ticket' (West-end style musical team) were much better then I'd have expected to find on a cruise! We didn't have time to take in as much of the entertainment, but what we saw was generally very good.
