Overview

Oriana has a very unique tiered stern and was originally designed as a classic ocean liner, making her the perfect ship to sail on for longer cruises. There is a very distinctive British feel on board, both in the decor and the general atmosphere, and this is reflected in many of the bars, lounges and other entertainment venues, such as Chaplin's Cinema and Anderson's Bar, which has leather armchairs, nautical memorabilia and even a portrait of the Queen!

Trivia

Oriana has one of the most beautiful Atrium's in the P&O fleet, and it's one of the signature features on the ship. With its cascading staircases and stunning Tiffany glass ceiling, the Atrium is the perfect backdrop for a photo or two, and it is a popular meeting place for friends and family.

Health and Fitness

The Oasis Spa was completely transformed during Oriana's refurbishment in 2011, giving it an elegant look and a tranquil atmosphere. The sea-view treatment rooms offer a great selection of treatments, ranging from a simple massage to acupuncture and hot stone therapy. Within the spa you can also enjoy the sauna and steam rooms or take a relaxing dip in the whirlpool spa. Adjacent to the spa is the Oasis salon, which offers a variety of different hair and beauty treatments. Oriana's gym is large and spacious, with plenty of fitness machines such as treadmills, cross-trainers and weights machines, plus a free weights area and separate exercise area for fitness classes. It was comfortable, not exactly spacious but better as a twin room than double. Had a refit this year so curtains & carpet nice

Dining Rating : 4
Quality of food very good, some days felt rushed at breakfast time.

Small cabin for the cost.Nice bed.

Dining Rating : 3
Too many fish dishes, every night the mains were 2 fish dishes 1 meat dish and 1 veg. dish. If you were not a fish eater hard luck. As someone who likes potatoes they were a big disappointment, boiled and roast potatoes were never cooked right.

Entertainment Rating : 3
Queen tribute band quite good,Resident singer guitarist in quite good.

Ship Rating : 2
Very quiet ship, bars very quiet after 11pm. Every thing seemed centred around quizes.

slight noise from engines ,and extractor fan in bathroom stayed on,otherwise fine for two people.Beds set in two single layout gives more room.

Dining Rating : 5
Ate in the conservatory in the day and restaurant in evening great food great service good choice on menu. Good company.

Entertainment Rating : 3
To much of the same, some shows in main theatre only lasted 30 mins.main headliners show cancelled one main show due to illness no contingency plan mostly aimed at the older passengers, not enough variety could have combined comedian with singer to give a full hour.most shows were rat pack style or old musicals have seen much better on other ships after nine cruises but this our first with p&o might try again on a different ship.

Ship Rating : 3
This is an older ship but clean and comfortable, however the port of Guernsey was cancelled due to strong currents and as the tenders only have single hulls it was considered not possible to go ashore ,even though the ship next to ours the Ventura did allow their passengers to go ashore in their twin hull tenders I did speak to one passenger and they said on five separate trips they had not been allowed to go ashore , I did ask a crew member why is this port kept on the itinerary and their reply was for tax reasons. Also because of the older passengers tenders might not be safe might be worth baring this in mind when choosing ship otherwise great holiday nice ports of call other than the last one.

Cabin Rating : 4
Cabin was bigger than I expected for inside one. Decor was good wonderful bed. Bathroom adequate.

Dining Rating : 5
Wonderful not had a bad meal in any venues we attended. Waiters were wonderful. Only complaint was the vibration in the oriental dining room cutlery shook around on the plate.

Entertainment Rating : 2
Good if you liked quizzes and virtual games. Some of the entertainers were good some not so good. A lot of duplication during the day.

Miss E Birchall 05/08/2017

Cabin Rating : 5
Our cabin was bigger than expected and very comfortable. We had lovely complementary teas/coffee and biscuits. And toiletries by The White Company. There was a small fridge for drinks and a safe to keep our passports and money -very useful. Our ensuite shower room was spotlessly clean on arrival and kept that way throughout our stay by our friendly cabin steward. It was a bit noisy at night due to ship creaking, but to be expected at sea! (Will take some ear plugs next time)

Dining Rating : 5
We went to buffets for breakfast and lunch, then waiter service in the restaurant for dinner. All of the food was plentiful, looked and tasted delicious, was of high quality and was presented beautifully. Service was excellent. The restaurants were attractive. No alcohol free wines, only one alcohol free beer.

Entertainment Rating : 5
Plenty of venues for drinks, meeting friends, dancing etc. There were excellent shows, comedian, films, musicians, variety acts. Something for all tastes, except for the youth. A small night club would have been welcome for the young adults, say 18 to25 years old.

Ship Rating : 5
Traditional and beautiful. Very clean and well kept.

food and service very good at the beginning of the cruise but unfortunately standards soon deteriorated.

Entertainment Rating : 4
comedian and peter howarth exceptional.overall a very good standard

Ship Rating : 3
the ship looked very smart following the recent refit.it was difficult to believe it is now 27 years old. we were very disappointed with the casino.very small and no atmosphere with ancient slots. service both bar and food was an issue particularly towards the end of the cruise.

Mr M Brockway 02/08/2017

Cosy - but narrow either side of bed. Quiet, except when anchor used!

Dining Rating : 4
Menu in mdr improved since last with p&o, but staff a little aloof.

Entertainment Rating : 3

Mr B Morgan 02/08/2017

Cabin Rating : 4
A bit small but kept very clean and tidy .

Dining Rating : 4
Excellent service and a good choice.

Entertainment Rating : 5
Headliners good and guest acts excellent

Ship Rating : 4
Very good apart from tender service in one and only tender port ( Guernsey). Only two tenders used, WHY ??? Took nearly six hours to get rid of queuing passengers !!!!

Mrs F Benford 02/08/2017

Cabin Rating : 4
Very well laid out with good storage space, proper wardrobe with safe inside, good shower as hate the old fashioned baths; comfortable bed with curtains that could be drawn across between the small seating area where there was fridge and tiny TV which really could be bigger as far too small to watch from bed. Adequate size balcony, maybe on the small size. Liked little things like hangers on back of main door where could hang outdoor coats and liked the location where it wasn't located down an endless corridor.

Dining Rating : 4
Always something on the menu in Peninsular Restaurant that was good but doesn't feel very special and service a bit hit and miss on Freedom Dining as no bread offered twice, wrong choice of main course delivered, no cheese and biscuits offered and when requested never materialised. Even though new to cruising found there were not the big personalities of waiters that we had encountered previously. Quite lengthy waits when requested a table for 2 and even though you are issued with a buzzer there is no adjacent bar to have a drink and it is quite a route march to the nearest one. The choice in the Conservatory for lunchtime wasn't great so used to skip lunch on sea days and have a quiche and cake for tea instead. The Beach House was more to our taste and on both occasions had great meals with first class service in a much nicer atmosphere. Breakfast in Al Fresco was a really nice smaller spot for people who don't want a full big breakfast and there was a good selection of healthy options. We once had breakfast in the Oriental and thought that this was a much better area than the Peninsular.

Entertainment Rating : 3
The theatre could benefit with a no entrance after lights down policy as many people seemed to turn up late. Very average and some singers we heard were often flat and we found it all rather underwhelming and just something to pass an hour. The cinema was good and did show a couple of decent films.

Ship Rating : 4
We liked the size and layout of the ship but noticed an awful lot of rust on the lifeboat inspection gantry which obviously hadn't been treated for ages but other areas appeared clean and well maintained. The lack of unruly children roaming about is certainly a bonus on an adults only ship so this alone is a huge plus! The Cricketers Bar was a pleasant area where you can still see the sea through the Promenade Deck and the tender transfer was run very efficiently.

Mr M King 02/08/2017

Cabin Rating : 4
Comfortable bed and lots of storage space for clothes. Toilet leaked but was fixed promptly.

Dining Rating : 5
Great service, good choices and clearly marked for gluten-free, vegetarian etc. Buffet similar.

Entertainment Rating : 4
Jack Pack excellent, Fogwell Flax excellent. Headliners good, but will get better with more performances.

Ship Rating : 5
Clean and tidy with the relatively recent update. Adults only so no children made for pleasant surroundings
