Life Onboard A Cruise Ship

Overview

Many people don't choose to cruise because they are worried that there won't be enough to keep them entertained, or on the flip side, that they will be forced to join in with all of the activities. Thankfully this isn't true at all as your time on the ship is yours to do with as you wish.

Daytime Activities

Each evening you will receive a newsletter in your cabin which details all of the activities and entertainment that is available the next day, ranging from quizzes, games and movies to cooking demonstrations, dance lessons and photography courses. If you don't want to get involved then you don't have to; there are plenty of other places you can go to relax. Most ships have at least one swimming pool with a couple of whirlpools plus sports courts, a spa and fitness centre and onboard shops, and some ships have rock climbing walls, bowling alleys and real grass lawns!

Evening Entertainment

In the evening there will be a range of different entertainment available including theatre shows, live music and dancing, comedy shows and cabaret. In addition to this, many ships also have smaller bars and lounges where it is a little quieter and you may find a lone pianist or small band for company. If you like a flutter every now and then you can head to the onboard casino, which tend to be quite large on the American ships. Here you will find a selection of table games such as poker, flapjack and roulette, as well as slot machines.
